A Disciples View: A Republican Christian for Biden

By The Rev. David Wilson Rogers

By The Rev. David Wilson Rogers

Just to be clear:

I am a Republican.

I believe that Biden/Harris are better for our nation than my party’s candidates.

I am not a socialist, nor do I believe that most Democrats are such. Nor do I believe that Democrats hate America. I support Law Enforcement even though I believe that a lot of genuine reform is necessary.

I am a strong supporter of stringent restrictions and precautions to stop the spread of Covid-19, and believe that weaponizing the pandemic for political gains is immoral and a vial butyral of human dignity. Covid-19 is a human catastrophe, not a political opportunity.

I am deeply concerned that my party has sacrificed its traditional values in order to support Trump in spite of his unwavering violation of moral principles, law and order, human decency, and ethical integrity. In my opinion, he is a liar, a charlatan, and an ignorant fool who just happens to have an insane amount of money. I don’t believe his motivation is for America, but rather for his own narcissistic ego and self-aggrandizement.

I do not believe America can survive four more years of his divisive hate-mongering. Since he became a serious contender in 2016, he has fostered fear, hate, and division. In his years in office, he has not made America great. Rather, he has undermined our standing in the global community, perverted justice, undermined science, education, and destroyed our economy.

I vote according to biblical values and the fundamentals of my Christian faith. While I do not believe that either party wholly embraces those values, but I do believe that my party has sacrificed all of them on the delusional premise of placing anti-abortion justices on the Supreme Court.

I recognize that many in my party will defend the President out of loyalty to the party, but I do not believe that he represents the party.

This November, I will be voting for Biden/Harris because I believe that the Republican Party has chosen its prominence and power over genuine American Values and, for the sake of the future of the country I love and have proudly served as a Veteran, our future depends on putting America over Party.

Finally, for all of you who will feel obligated and compelled to argue with my opinions, trash those who believe otherwise, or in any way turn this into a sandbox fight, don’t waste your time. I will not read, respond, or engage in your hatred regardless of what side you defend.

Have a nice day and God Bless.
